Week of 26 March 1928

Tuesday, 27 March 1928
Edwardstone House
Pippa and Betty drove to Colchester after lunch to play tennis at the Officers' Club with the Horsefields, but it came on to rain and rained steadily.
Wednesday, 28 March
Pippa and Betty walked to Cox's Farm to see Mr Kemball about ponies for the holidays. No luck though.
I went in to meet Polly, Anne and Wilma at Colchester station at 9pm. The two tods have 5 weeks Easter holidays. Anne was confirmed today by the Bishop of Woolwich. Polly was present and also Mabel.
Both children have done very well at their school this term.
Thursday, 29 March
Polly's birthday. She was feeling tired so had breakfast in bed and her presents were brought up to her room.
Pippa had a letter from Reg Bruce enclosing a cheque for £215 for her to buy a new Morris Cowley car and with funds to pay for licence, insurance and upkeep. This is a present for her 21st birthday.
Friday, 30 March
Pippa and Betty, Anne and Wilma went to Ipswich in the car and got back for lunch.

Grand National was won by Tipperary Tim, an outsider at 100-1
Saturday, 31 March
Cambridge won the Boat Race by 10 lengths
